DIY Inspiration & Fall Trend - Leather Sleeves

Not to sound like a crazy, bondage-loving girl, but I love a bit of leather. And I've seen these leather-sleeved jackets popping up all over the place. Perfect autumn/winter coat.

DIY Galaxy Print Collar

Galaxy Print. I'm like obsessed with it. It's amazing. I could literally stare at it all day, I just want to wrap myself up in it. But unfortunately I just can't seem to find any galaxy print pieces that I really love :( and I've tried to DIY it with paint and bleach etc. but I just can't seem to get it exactly right and it never looks the same. So, I have kinda cheated. I'm using transfer paper and just transferring a picture of space onto a collar! I'd love to make a skirt or dress or something but I can't find galaxy print fabric anywhere! Apart from on Spoonflower but its like $18 per yard :( and I just don't have the money for that..

So. Here's whatcha need:

• A collar (I just cut one off one of my dad's old shirts)
• some random fabric scrap, it doesnt really matter what it is
• transfer paper, I used the one for dark fabrics just because I wanted a vibrant colour 
• an iron
• and some scissors!

All you need to do to get a picture is type in 'Galaxy Nebula Wallpaper' into google images and tons will come up. Just pick your favourite one and print it onto your transfer paper. Make sure you read all the instructions for the transfer paper first and do a test run on normal paper too!

Just download whichever image is your favourite and then print it out!

Follow the instructions for the transfer paper!

When I did mine, I just cut out the rough shape so I needed to trim a few bits off.

 And it's done! So easy and I'm actually in love with it. Seriously. 

Here's how I styled it, this was just an outfit for going to the cinema in to see The Watch with a few friends! Definitely go see it, the film is hilarious! :)

Trend Alert: Velvet

So, it looks like velvets gonna be big in the Autumn! Which is awesome seeing as I live in cold, rainy England (I'm assuming velvet keeps you warm...?) But, honestly, I love velvet, I already have two velvet skirts in my wardrobe that I made when I was like 12 aha. No doubt I'll probably have to redo those... I also have like three metres of plum velvet stuffed away somewhere! So there'll definitely be a few velvet-based DIY's up! Here's a few pieces that I really like..

DIY Spiked Camo Jacket

So you may have seen that I posted a few days ago about Camouflage Jackets, and after that I did a bit of looking around, trying to find a nice Camouflage Jacket for myself.
One was from Topshop and was 58 pounds.. and the other was from Urban Outfitters and was 48 pounds...

Now, I don't know about you, but I thought that was quite expensive... so, of course, my first thought was to DIY my own with spikes on it! I found a camo jacket at Afflecks in Manchester from the shop Soho's. There is also an army surplus store like next door too, but the one from Soho's fit me a little better. And I'm also pretty sure that its exactly the same as the one from Urban Outfitters.. (pre-spikes ofc)..

So here's what you need to spike up your own camo jacket
-A camo jacket (kind of a must)
-Some studs or spikes of your choice
-And a pair of pliers

Here is the jacket that I bought for a measly 15 pounds!

Next pick where you want to place your spikes. I chose the top of the sleeve and the shoulder area. You can mark where you want them with a piece of chalk if you like but I just kinda eyeballed it, starting from the centre. Push the prongs of you spikes through the fabric, it should go through quite easily, you may just have to push it firmly to make sure they are properly through.

Push the prongs flat with your pliers, you can use your fingers if you want as usually the metal is quite soft and malleable, but it usually hurts my fingers after doing quite a few! aha

You can put as many spikes in as you like, in whatever pattern you like. I went for a standard semi-circle from the shoulder seam.

I wore it with my vintage black Levi shorts and a floral basque from Forever 21.

I've been seeing Camo Jackets all over the bloggersphere recently, and I'm slightly falling in love with them. Being able to wear them with a practically any outfit you want is a big plus for me. Throw one on over a cute dress, or add it as the finishing touch to a grungey outfit..
